I was buying a soda or something, so I went to the the fridge by the counter. And through the frosted window I saw this shape. Like an outline of the most perfect human being I’ve ever seen. Like a ghost. First I tried to wash the window with my shirt, but I still couldn’t see anything. So I closed the door and looked for her. But she was gone. So that’s the end of that, I thought. And got in line at the cashier… But then outside, standing by the carts I saw her. She stood there. So casual, leaning against a car. Smoking. I remember because I had smoked like once before in my life and the only idea I came up with was asking her for a cigarette. So I did. And of course she gave one to me. The whole time I stood there smoking I couldn’t take my eyes of her. She was mesmerizing. Astonishing. Gorgeous. I can’t find a good enough word to begin to describe her. But at the end of my cigarette, which I smoked in like five seconds, I said to her in a shaky, juvenile, ridiculous way “is it possible for me to already be in love with you?”. So she turned around. Looked at me like I was some kind of idiot. Then she leaned in, put her hand against my chest and kissed me, like in some movie, and walked away. I just stood there. I had to stay there, for at least another ten minutes or so, to soak in the moment.”

So.. there are two parts to this story..

In the first part supposedly he was in custody. His parole officer had told us that, if he did something stupid again he could face up to five years in prison.. This night it was for allegedly stealing some important diplomat’s car. A crime which he claims he never commited. But then again he was told to be a compulsive liar. I never trusted him.
Though I wanted to.
But then standing at the Georgetown Police station in the middle of the night trying to convince the officers about the misunderstanding - that he never stole this diplomats car - the look in his eyes changed. Something started to grow inside of him. His eyes gave away some kind of knowlegde about him. Some truth to what was hiding behind his worn out face.

He said to me,
